Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Shakir Mohd Saudi is a leading environmental and water engineering scholar with extensive experience in hydrology, flood modelling, metagenomics, and environmental data analytics. He currently serves as the Head of Programme for the MSc in Water and Hydropower Engineering at the Centre for Water Engineering Technology (CWET), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Malaysia, where he oversees academic development, international collaborations, and postgraduate research advancement. Dr. Ahmad Shakir is also a Research Principal with the Environmental Health Research Cluster at UniKL, reflecting his strong interdisciplinary foundation in environmental forensic science, environmental health, and water-related disaster studies. Over the years, he has held various academic leadership roles and contributed significantly to university–industry and government partnerships. With more than 1,400 citations, a Google Scholar h-index of 22, and an extensive publication record across Q1–Q3 indexed journals, Dr. Ahmad Shakir is widely recognized for his contributions to chemometrics, hydrological modelling, flood risk analysis, remote sensing, and environmental pattern recognition. His work has advanced understanding of air and water quality dynamics, sedimentation, watershed behaviour, and environmental impacts in tropical regions. He has led and contributed to multiple national and international research grants funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, NAHRIM, NIOSH, and industry partners, including projects on metagenomics in flood-prone river systems, integrated lake basin management, autonomous UAV/USV applications, and flood evacuation optimization. Notably, he serves as Project Leader for the national research project on Metagenomic Profiling of Microbial Diversity in Malaysian Riverine Flood-Prone Areas, directly supporting the theme of his WCASET 2025 keynote. A sought-after speaker, Dr. Ahmad Shakir has delivered invited lectures and keynote addresses at various global platforms, including the International Federation of Environmental Health World Congress, UN-Habitat & UNEP Roundtables, and major water engineering forums. He is also a certified Professional Technologist (MBOT), Certified Drone Pilot (SenseFly Switzerland), and an active member of professional bodies such as CIWEM (UK) and the Malaysian Association of Environmental Health. Dr. Ahmad Shakir’s keynote presentation at WCASET 2025 focuses on his pioneering research integrating metagenomic profiling with flood-risk modelling in the Kuantan River Basin, Pahang—an innovative approach that bridges microbial ecology, hydrological processes, and climate resilience assessment. His work offers transformative insights for future-proofing flood prediction systems and improving disaster preparedness in tropical regions.
